RSE Policy Consultation
The Department for Education announced changes to the relationships and sex education curriculum following nationwide consultation. These changes came into effect from September 2020 and all schools will be required to comply with the updated requirements by the start of the summer term this year. As part of implementing the RSE curriculum, schools need to consult with the whole school community to ensure there is a general consensus on our approaches to policy and the curriculum content.
Following our consultation with parents from 7th March 2024 until 17th March 2024, we wanted to share the feedback we received.
We received 8 responses which included responses from every year group except one.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development is a fundamental area of learning in Year R. The children learn about how to start building relationships which includes working and playing cooperatively and taking turns with others, forming positive attachments to adults and friendships with peers as well as showing sensitivity to their own and to others’ needs.
This forms the foundations for learning about relationships throughout the children’s time at Titchfield Primary School.
We would like to thank everyone who engaged with the consultation. If you have any questions about the Relationship Education and Sex Education curriculum, please contact your child’s class teacher.
