At Titchfield Primary School, Personal Development and Well-being are at the heart of our school’s vision. We want every child to feel that they belong, are valued and are prepared for life beyond the classroom. Children do best when they feel safe, included and known, and when they are given rich opportunities to understand themselves, build positive relationships, contribute to their community and grow in confidence.
Through our STRIVE for 2030 strategy, we are strengthening Personal Development across the whole school. Our approach brings together our STRIVE values, The Titchfield Way, assemblies, curriculum, pupil voice, leadership opportunities, wider experiences, emotional literacy, inclusion and respect for diversity. This helps children develop the character, confidence, independence, resilience and emotional intelligence they need now and in the future.
Personal Development is not a single lesson, scheme or event. It is woven through the daily life of the school. Children learn how to treat others through The Titchfield Way: we try our best, we are kind, and we look after our school. They learn how to grow as people through our STRIVE values: Self-Motivation, Thinking, Resilience, Independence, Valued Collaboration and Emotional Intelligence. Together, these give children a shared language for learning, behaviour, relationships and personal growth.
We also believe that every child should have access to the full richness of school life. We plan carefully so that children can take part in meaningful experiences, develop their talents and interests, understand difference, respect others and see that they have a voice within their school community. Our aim is for every child to leave Titchfield feeling proud of who they are, respectful of others, confident to contribute, and ready for the next stage of their journey.
